Cowboys Training Camp Antics: Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs’ Scrimmage Gets Attention

Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs keep It light at Cowboys Camp

In the sweltering heat of July, where every breath feels like it’s drawn through a blowtorch, NFL players need a way to keep their spirits high. Enter Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs, the dynamic Dallas Cowboys defenders, who took to the field not for drills but for a bit of theatrics-a mock boxing match that had everyone talking.

After wrapping up a grueling Saturday practice, Parsons and Diggs exchanged playful jabs and phantom punches, much to the delight of the fans. Jon Machota of The Athletic was there to capture the spectacle, a moment of levity amid the dogged grind of training camp.

Parsons, now stepping into his fourth NFL season, has incorporated boxing into his training regimen, a tactic he believes sharpens his edge on the field. “Boxing has made me more formidable inside, where the action’s faster and the offensive linemen close in quicker,” he shared with The Dallas Morning News.“It’s enhanced my inside rushes significantly.

The results speak for themselves. In a standout season, Parsons notched career highs with 14 sacks and 33 QB hits, solidifying his reputation as a defensive juggernaut. His efforts earned him a third-place finish in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, trailing only T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett.

On the other side of the field, Diggs is on the comeback trail after a torn ACL truncated his 2023 season to just two games. The Cowboys are banking on his return to bolster a pass defense that already ranked impressively fifth in the league.

As is often the case, the playful antics sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with some fans grumbling about the seriousness of their beloved team’s preparation. Critics suggested that the impromptu boxing bout reflected a lack of focus on winning.

To those naysayers, a collective deep breath is in order. The Cowboys are poised and ready, blending hard work with a dose of humor to navigate the relentless grind of the NFL season. And who knows? Maybe this blend of discipline and playfulness will finally carry them through the crucible of the playoffs.
